The average temperatures of the first half of 2006 were the highest ever recorded for the continental United States, scientists announced today.

Temperatures for January through June were 3.4 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th-century average.

Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri experienced record warmth for the period, while no state experienced cooler-than-average temperatures, reported scientists from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C.

Scientists have previously said that 2005 was the warmest year on record for the entire globe.

Last month the United States experienced the second warmest June since weather record keeping began in 1895.

This warming coupled with less than average precipitation caused moderate to extreme droughts in almost 45 percent of the contiguous United States. However, some areas, such as the Northeast of the country experienced record rainfalls and severe floods.

Powder Sent to The Times Not Anthrax

Excerpt -

"Once the substance was deemed nonthreatening, Mr. Browne said the entire episode appeared to be a hoax, noting the juxtaposition of a defaced editorial in an envelope with corn starch

Separately, someone had called the police earlier in the day to report concerns about a white substance found in a letter delivered to an address in the midtown Manhattan area, Mr. Browne said. But that substance turned out to be cocaine, he said."

Some fuckhead by the name of Danny (I'm a fucking moron out to sabotage Air America) Goldberg, the guy who totally fucked Marc Maron out of the brilliant Morning Sedition and led to his late night show which was also cancelled. And Danny Goldfuck is also the guy who cancelled Unfiltered and brought us Jerry ("let's pay the hooker with a check") Springer.

So unless this new CEO comes on and says he's picking up Marc Maron's contract and giving him back his morning show, then count me skeptical.

The troops aren't allowed to talk candidly to outsiders...when Kathy Griffin did her tour, she said they were even censored from discussing George W. Bush.

I watched Rollins's show a few times, and it's the usual talk show snoozefest...except when he had Werner Herzog on.

He only had Werner on for 10 minutes! I was pissed!
