Gold has tumble back to the 680s! Good time to get it people! BUY BUY BUY!! (always take delivery, do not trust gold companies that 'hold it for you'. They always go bankrupt after gold prices fall.

Buy old gold coins for best ethics. (worn ones) First of all its old gold. Modern gold is extracted using Cyanide, and it ruins lands. Just ask folks in Nevada how they like gold mines. They hate them!

Buy estate jewelry for best ethics and most fun. I have gotten items recently for NEAR MELT PRICE. How can that be? Well you buy it wholesale and you buy OLD INVENTORY. Basically, the jewelers costs are in the old 400 oz price so you can get old inventory deals very close to melt now for high Karat gold jewelry. Bonus: Jewelry is beautiful and can be enjoyed, whereas coins just sit there. Bad things: Jewelry can get lost or stolen.

Markets should set dollar value: Treasury's Snow Tue May 16, 9:39 AM ET

U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow stressed his view on Tuesday that the relative value of the dollar should be determined in competitive markets, and said he was phrasing his comments cautiously to avoid misinterpretations that could drive the market to fluctuate.

"Our view on the dollar is that its value should be set in open, competitive exchange markets and reflect fundamentals, and I think it does," Snow said in response to questions during an interview on Detroit radio station WJR.

The dollar has been under pressure against other major currencies, especially since last month's Group of Seven finance minister's meeting in Washington.

Analysts said after the meeting that it appeared the dollar would have to decline on value in order to help resolve global imbalances resulting from huge U.S. trade deficits and slow growth in Europe.

The G7 ministers said a rise in value for China's yuan and increased currency flexibility in Asia was "critical" as was the need for China to rely less on exports for growth.

On Tuesday, Snow noted that China's yuan value has risen in value and said that was a welcome development. Last week, the Treasury declined to name China a currency manipulator in a semiannual report to Congress, and Snow noted that since then, Beijing has begun to move to let the yuan strengthen.

"Now that the threat of the citation has been removed for a while, for six months, China is beginning to move their currency and I was pleased to see the currency begin to show more flexibility and begin to move in the right direction," Snow said.

Snow declined to answer when asked why he didn't simply acknowledge that a dollar decline would help ratchet down U.S. trade deficits by making imports more expensive.

Iraq Sunnis accuse US of \"atrocity\" over raids

Iraq\'s main Sunni religious grouping accused U.S. forces on Monday of killing 25 civilians in raids near Baghdad in the past two days, rejecting the U.S. account that only suspected insurgents had died.

Two separate U.S. statements on the air and ground raids did not mention any civilian deaths, but said several women and children were wounded.

Worst ethics for buying gold: ANY NEW BULLION, ANY NEW GOLD COINS probably was newly extracted using cyanide in very bad environmental effects. Poisoning the water etc.

Positives for New Gold Bullion Coins: Best for reselling and investing. Usually a 10 dollar spread (or less) for buying and selling on daily spot price.

So I have a list for the BEST GOLD COINS based on HUMAN RIGHTS RECORDS:

WORST: China Goverment Gold: Panda Coins, Chinese New Year Coins, China is HORRIBLE for environment and by buying these coins supports a fascist regime and slave labor. DO NOT BUY CHINA GOLD!

WORST #2: USA Government Gold: We suck, don't support the US. US allows horrible gold mining techniques and has secret prisons and starts illegal wars.

BEST #1: Canadian Gold Maple Leafs: Canada is awesome and the gold is .9999 fine. Not .999 fine like the US and others. So its better first of all. As for environment, well Canada is better than the US for sure.

BEST #2: South African Gold: Support the ANC and buy New South African Gold.

Bush agrees to full NSA oversight by Congress

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House, in an abrupt reversal, will allow the full Senate and House of Representatives intelligence committees to review President George W. Bush\'s domestic spying program, congressional officials said on Tuesday.

Two days before the program was expected to dominate Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden\'s Senate confirmation hearing as CIA director, the Republican chairmen of the Senate and House panels said separately that Bush had agreed to allow full committee oversight of his Terrorist Surveillance Program.

The program, which allows the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on the international phone calls and e-mails of U.S. citizens without first obtaining warrants, has stirred an outcry in Congress among lawmakers who believe Bush may have overstepped his constitutional authority.

It became apparent that in order to have a fully informed confirmation hearing, all members of my committee needed to know the full width and breadth of the president\'s program,\" Sen. Pat Roberts (news, bio, voting record) of Kansas, who heads the 15-member Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, said in a statement.

The first full Senate committee briefing was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

The first of a two-part opinion piece by former New York Times reporter Judith Miller for the Wall Street Journal appeared Tuesday. The subject is not Iraq weapons of mass destruction, but those belonging to Libya, North Korea and Iran.

Miller holds that the Bush administration, in trying to control nuclear programs in North Korea and Iran, should \"recall how Libya was persuaded to renounce terrorism and its own weapons of mass destruction programs, including a sophisticated nuclear program purchased almost entirely from the supplier network run by Abdul Qadeer Khan, the \'father\'\' of Pakistan\'s bomb.\"

Congress may make ISPs snoop on you

A prominent Republican on Capitol Hill has prepared legislation that would rewrite Internet privacy rules by requiring that logs of Americans\' online activities be stored, CNET News.com has learned.

The proposal comes just weeks after Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said Internet service providers should retain records of user activities for a \"reasonable amount of time,\" a move that represented a dramatic shift in the Bush administration\'s views on privacy.

Wisconsin Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is proposing that ISPs be required to record information about Americans\' online activities so that police can more easily \"conduct criminal investigations.\" Executives at companies that fail to comply would be fined and imprisoned for up to one year.

In addition, Sensenbrenner\'s legislation--expected to be announced as early as this week--also would create a federal felony targeted at bloggers, search engines, e-mail service providers and many other Web sites. It\'s aimed at any site that might have \"reason to believe\" it facilitates access to child pornography--through hyperlinks or a discussion forum, for instance.

BEST WAY TO BUY PLATINUM: American, Canadian Bullion coins or ingots. jewelry. Historic coins are hard to find. They just didn't make that many so collectors want them. Russia made a few from the tsarist era. Platinum is so cool. best one to buy if you have 1300 to put away

Hegel believed that all thought was a product of its time, and therefore disassociated with objective truth.

But this theory was itself a product of its time, so its validity is also suspect.

US spells out plan to bomb Iran

THE US is updating contingency plans for a non-nuclear strike to cripple Iran\'s atomic weapon programme if international diplomacy fails, Pentagon sources have confirmed.

Strategists are understood to have presented two options for pinpoint strikes using B2 bombers flying directly from bases in Missouri, Guam in the Pacific and Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.

RAF Fairford in Gloucester also has facilities for B2s but this has been ruled out because of the UK\'s opposition to military action against Tehran.

The main plan calls for a rolling, five-day bombing campaign against 400 key targets in Iran, including 24 nuclear-related sites, 14 military airfields and radar installations, and Revolutionary Guard headquarters.

At least 75 targets in underground complexes would be attacked with waves of bunker-buster bombs.

NOW to back Lieberman\'s Democratic challenger for Senate seat

Edward M. \"Ned\" Lamont, the Greenwich cable executive challenging U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman for the Democratic nomination, was expected today to collect the endorsement of the National Organization for Women\'s political action committee.

The nod from the NOW PAC was to be announced today at a news conference jointly hosted in Hartford by Lamont and the women\'s organization, which said it had reached its decision \"after extensive research and discussion.\"

Lamont\'s campaign spokesman declined to comment early today, and Connecticut NOW Executive Director Kathleen Sloan, who distributed the group\'s announcement, was not immediately available for comment.

Lieberman\'s campaign director, Sean Smith, reacted by emphasizing the senator\'s support from other organizations concerned with women\'s issues and among prominent women Democrats in Connecticut, including Democratic State Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo; U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3rd District; state Comptroller Nancy Wyman; and state Treasurer Denise L. Nappier.

FBI Secret Probes: 3,501 Targets in the U.S.

ABC News

The Department of Justice says it secretly sought phone records and other documents of 3,501 people last year under a provision of the Patriot Act that does not require judicial oversight.

The records were obtained with the use of what are known as National Security Letters, which can be signed by an FBI agent and are only for use in terrorism cases.

The letters require telephone companies to keep secret even the existence of the request for records.

Assistant Attorney General William Moschella told Congress last month that 9,254 National Security Letters were issued in 2005 involving 3,501 people.

Posted by: conbo at May 16, 2006 08:25 PM

They aren't. But those who aren't onboard with the neocons risk losing their nonprofit status, due to some machinations implemented by the IRS after WWII. So many of the good religious people keep silent -- as Rev. Niemoller said at the Nuremburg War Trials, a fatally flawed strategy in and of itself.

It's all tied up in the 501 regulatons...here is some background info from no less a source than Daily Kos about a church that tried to protest the war with predictable results:

Big money developers constantly use this technique in my town to bamboozle the gullable locals into selling out cheap. THen the big money has it's way with the town council.

The argument they use all the time is, "...either the community grows or it dies." Then they kill it with their developments.

These kind of arguments only work on those who allow their attention to be totally focused on the arguments.

The Conscious Universe

Excerpt from Chapter 1

In science, the acceptance of new ideas follows a predictable, four-stage sequence. In Stage 1, skeptics confidently proclaim that the idea is impossible because it violates the Laws of Science. This stage can last from years to centuries, depending on how much the idea challenges conventional wisdom. In Stage 2, skeptics reluctantly concede that the idea is possible, but it is not very interesting and the claimed effects are extremely weak. Stage 3 begins when the mainstream realizes that the idea is not only important, but its effects are much stronger and more pervasive than previously imagined. Stage 4 is achieved when the same critics who used to disavow any interest in the idea begin to proclaim that they thought of it first. Eventually, no one remembers that the idea was once considered a dangerous heresy.

The idea discussed in this book is in the midst of the most important and the most difficult of the four transitions – from Stage 1 into Stage 2. While the idea itself is ancient, it has taken more than a century to conclusively demonstrate it in accordance with rigorous, scientific standards. This demonstration has accelerated Stage 2 acceptance, and Stage 3 can already be glimpsed on the horizon.

The idea is that those compelling, perplexing and sometimes profound human experiences known as "psychic phenomena" are real.

As Blake said the voice of honest indignation is the voice of God, and humour without any doubt means indignation towards the follies of the world, sarcastic indignation against human vanity, his authority and his stupidity. We can also consider Humor as a form of revenge through which we can get even of the abuses supported without breaking the law. Humor, which is one of the highest activity of the human brain, as Freud sais, is thus a means that helps us to live better and to endure our distressing reality. As a matter of fact, it is a good therapy and a way of teaching us something through a lively approach.

In ancient medical theory there were four principal "humours" in the human body (phlegm, blood, choler and black bile) and the bad balance of these elements caused illness, while an exact balance made a compound called "good humour"! In modern times, however the concept of humor has enlarged enormously and nowadays we talk about humor in literature as well as in everyday life to indicate not only a genre of writing but also a particular mood or character to face our existence and overcome the different anxieties of its burdens!

McCain, billionaire brothers forgive and forget

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Just more than six years ago, the Wyly brothers of Dallas were pumping millions into a shadowy TV blitz aimed at derailing Sen. John McCain\'s presidential bid. And the Arizona maverick was crying foul, demanding an FEC investigation and accusing the billionaire Texans of collusion with the Bush team. \"They should be ashamed,\" he said at the time. \"Tell \'em to keep their dirty money in the state of Texas.\"

It was probably the nastiest incident in the 2000 nomination fight, a turning point in the race. But heck, that was a long time ago.

Monday night, Charles and Sam Wyly will co-host a fund-raiser for a man who once derided them as the \"Wyly coyotes\" and as George W. Bush\'s \"sleazy Texas buddies.\"

Mr Snow, 50, who was treated for colon cancer last year, the disease that killed his mother when he was 17, was asked why he wore a yellow bracelet.

Choking back tears and pausing to calm himself, he admitted: “It’s my Ed Muskie moment,” a reference to the Democrat who ran for president in 1972 and was famously caught on camera sobbing.

It's naive to contend that the press has layed down out of fear of being labelled "liberal". The real issue is the corporatization of the media. When Walter Cronkite retired, CBS announced that the news division was going to become a profit center, where before it was a public service. That is what creates the problems of no reporting of problems that reflect poorly on corporate America. This just happens to coincide with the conservative ideology, so it has benefited. But, the real issue is huge money.

I know he wants it. I know they are pushing it. Could it be that we just can't? It would cause too much 'collateral' damage to the world markets? China threaten to abandon the dollar? They love money more than power. I sure hope that is what is happening.

While the media frets about be accused of being too liberal, I hardly bother to watch TV at all anymore. Watching some vacuous news-model kiss up to the Repugs isn't my idea of a good time. I've substituted liberal radio for TV.

Ignore Bush.

Perot really did help Clinton....

1992-Clinton only got 43 percent of the vote, and 48 in 1996 (I think...not sure on 1996)...

So even those 2 elections weren't really a resounding "mandate"....

A little know fact is that the independent weekly newspapers are being bought up by big concerns, and are turning away form political subjects. www.whatnowtoons.com

The conservatives are not better, like Janeane says, these corporatist media outlets are lazy and they purvey lazy journalism and they say the people want this. It is a self fulfilling prophecy and they know it.

some of them are.

That is true. I over-spoke.

Really smart people are often people who can avoid interpersonal conflict detrimental to their relationships, be funny, listen to the bird songs, fix their Cabriolet, read a blog and contemplate world matters all at the same time.

Of course, Rusty is only good for two out of six, but funny is one of them.

Posted by: Crank Bait at May 16, 2006 8:56 PM

Just curious...why did you think it was spooky?

Posted by: GG at May 16, 2006 08:48 PM

=========

Well first, the whole idea of a Violent Unknown Event freaks me out a bit.

And that all of these biographies were about people with odd names, and that their names all contained the same word..."fall."

The montage of odd-looking people in photos as a background.

I know nothing about it except what I saw on the website, but just the atmosphere set by the subject, the names, and the photos spooks me out. I love it.

"Not at all lying snake because you were here ready to strike. Everyone knows that you like to do that to women that never say anything to you. You are caught redhanded on your record of many personal attacks and lies snake."

"you are the biggest sybil/cybil by far nobody and also the biggest liar there is. John caught you in another of your lifetime of nobody lies. there have been dozens of people that have caught you attacking others first and lying."

====================================

These posts are all true but it is also no surprise that the name Nobody has appeared as a low level target on a few right wing blogs because he so predictably flips out all the time. If he wouldnt flip out and wouldnt be such a bully towards people they would gradually go away. All he has to do is ignore any posts that mention him unless he knows the poster.

IGNORE is a powerful tool, use it.

some highlights from Eric's book... Because who else but lapdogs would:
>>> Refuse to take seriously during the 2000 campaign clear proof, as first reported by the Boston Globe, that George Bush simply walked away from his Texas Air National Guard duty for at least one whole year. (Throughout the entire 2000 campaign, ABC's Word News Tonight made no reference--none-- to Bush's questionable Guard service.)

? Dutifully announce, as ABC News president David Westin did, at the outset of the Iraq war that images of dead U.S. soldiers would never be aired, despite the fact that a decade earlier all the TV news players during the Clinton era rushed to put on the air images of a dead U.S. soldier being dragged through the street of Magadishu, Somalia; part of Black Hawk Down.

? Sit on key information regarding a high-level criminal investigation into the White House, as Bob Woodward did for more than two years.

? Let the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth run wild during the 2004 campaign with their fabricated charges that Sen. John Kerry lied about his war record.

? Rush to announce Bush's re-election "mandate," despite the fact his slim margin of victory was the narrowest win for a sitting president since Woodrow Wilson in 1916.

? Allow the radical Christian right to hijack the news agenda for two solid weeks during the spring of 2005 with the Terri Shiavo crusade, as cable news and networks mentioned "Schiavo" more than 15,000 times--five times as many TV references that were made to "Iraq," where 18 American servicemen died during that same two-week span.

? Routinely look away when Bush crisscrossed the country in 2005 lying--plain and simple--about how Social Security would go "bankrupt" in the year 2040.

? Announce on network television, as Tom Brokaw and Ted Koppel did in December 2005, that facing similar circumstances following the attacks of Sept. 11, president Bill Clinton would have ordered the same pre-emptive invasion of Iraq that Bush did.

? Between May 1 and June 17 2005, ask Scott McClellan approximately 940 questions during press briefings, but have only two them be about the published Downing Street Memo, which detailed the

Janeane is so articulate....that's really cool....so how did she make such crap like Wet Hot American Summer?

its interesting that you point to 09 and 10 as the critical point...that\'s bound to be a scary time for sure...but if one would attempt to effect this timetable...to divert it...wouldn\'t the critical period be closer to the initiating event? or do you hold to the opinion that this process is necessary?
