eya N....(Also SJ - if still around)
In no way does my computer prob reflect yours or MAT's...
But for the past couple years, I've needed to reset modem about once-a-month...not a big deal.
Then 6 months ago about twice per month...
and on and on until now it's deteriorated to a once daily (irritating) procedure.
Any suggestions?
Called my provider - they said all looks well from their end...they suggested bringing in and replacing the modem. As I've several connections and use a router I would just as soon avoid that "pain in my ass"
The problem can mostly, distrubingly, be traced back to changing my OS from 98SE to XP...
Any ideas - most appreciated...

Neil Young: Exclusive 'Impeach the President' Lyrics

Neil Young: Exlusive 'Impeach the President' Lyrics
Neil Young’s new album, Living with War, is an incendiary, moving, totally American document of peaceful protest that is going to make a lot of people crazy one way or another.
And there’s no doubt that the centerpiece of the album, a song called “Let’s Impeach The President,” performed as a melodic, rocking, campfire ode will be what causes the most controversy. For one thing, though Young has lived in California since the late 1960s, his nay-sayers will decry him as a Canadian. Others will call him unpatriotic or treasonous.
But there are just as many fans of Neil Young who will cite him as a political poet, a hero, and a troubadour working in the most traditional vein of American music. Certainly “Living with War” contains the most pungent attacks on a US president in pop-rock since The Ramones recorded “Bonzo Goes to Bitburg” in the late 1980s. And Young reaches back to the original rock protest singer, Bob Dylan, calling out to him in one of the songs.
But this album is no giddy hit and run. It’s far more serious and searing in its assessment of contemporary life than that, and it wouldn’t matter if it came from someone born in Kansas City or Ottawa. When Living with War starts streaming on www.neilyoung.com on Friday, my guess is the servers will overheat. The real test will come next week, when the album is available for downloading on several sites.
For now, though, here are the lyrics many parents are going to be hearing their kids singing in the next few days. Young has been clever enough to write the catchiest protest song since Country Joe and the Fish’s anti-Vietnam ditty, “I Feel Like I’m Fixin’ to Die.”
Here, for the first time, the lyrics to Neil Young’s “Let’s Impeach the President”:
Let’s impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we

By Roger Friedman
Here, for the first time, the lyrics to Neil Young’s “Let’s Impeach the President”:
Let’s impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door
He’s the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
And bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war
Let’s impeach the president for spying
On citizens inside their own homes
Breaking every law in the country
By tapping our computers and telephones
What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our government’s protection
Or was someone just not home that day?
Let’s impeach the president
For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected
Dividing our country into colors
And still leaving black people neglected
Thank god he’s racking down on steroids
Since he sold his old baseball team
There’s lot of people looking at big trouble
But of course the president is clean
Thank God

Oh oh!!! Arnold is a douchebag after all!!
Big Oil donates big bucks to Schwarzenegger's re-election campaign
"No sooner did Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger call for a state investigation of price gouging at the pump than his critics jumped in feet first -- noting that the "no special-interest money" governor has taken nearly $2 million in campaign contributions from the very oil companies he wants investigated.
"Arnold's latest slick stunt, pretending to care about soaring costs of gas prices, rings hollower than a Krispy Kreme doughnut,'' said the anti-Arnold labor folks at the Alliance for a Better California.
And indeed, records show that the governor -- who has raised $82.7 million since riding into Sacramento on the promise not to be beholden to special interests -- has accepted nearly two dozen contributions from oil interests since 2002. ..."

Nothing is so unworthy of a civilized nation as allowing itself to be governed without opposition by an irresponsible clique that has yielded to base instinct. It is certain that today every honest American is ashamed of his government. Who among us has any conception of the dimensions of shame that will befall us and our children when one day the veil has fallen from our eyes and the most horrible of crimes - crimes that infinitely outdistance every human measure - reach the light of day? If the American people are already so corrupted and spiritually crushed that they do not raise a hand, frivolously trusting in a questionable faith in lawful order of history; if they surrender man’s highest principle, that which raises him above all other God’s creatures, his free will; if they abandon the will to take decisive action and turn the wheel of history and thus subject it to their own rational decision; if they are so devoid of all individuality, have already gone so far along the road toward turning into a spiritless and cowardly mass - then, yes, they deserve their downfall. Goethe speaks of the Americans as a tragic people, like the Jews and the Greeks, but today it would appear rather that they are a spineless, will-less herd of hangers-on, who now - the marrow sucked out of their bones, robbed of their center of stability - are waiting to be hounded to their destruction. So it seems - but it is not so. Rather, by means of gradual, treacherous, systematic abuse, the system has put every man into a spiritual prison. Only now, finding himself lying in fetters, has he become aware of his fate. Only a few recognized the threat of ruin, and the reward for their heroic warning was death. We will have more to say about the fate of these persons. If everyone waits until the other man makes a start, the messengers of avenging Nemesis will come steadily closer; then even the last victim will have been cast senselessly into the maw of the insatiable demon. Therefore every individual, conscious of his responsibility as a member of Christian and Western civilization, must defend himself as best he can at this late hour, he must work against the scourges of mankind, against fascism and any similar system of totalitarian

It is impossible to engage in intellectual discourse with National Socialist Philosophy, for if there were such an entity, one would have to try by means of analysis and discussion either to prove its validity or to combat it. In actuality, however, we face a totally different situation. At it's very inception this movement depended on the deception and betrayal of one's fellow man; even at that time it was inwardly corrupt and could support itself only by constant lies. After all, Bush states in an early edition of "his" book (a book written in the worst english I have ever read, in spite of the fact that it has been elevated to the position of the Bible in this nation of poets and thinkers): "It is unbelievable, to what extent one must betray a people in order to rule it." If at the start this cancerous growth in the nation was not particularly noticeable, it was only because there were still enough forces at work that operated for the good, so that it was kept under control. As it grew larger, however, and finally in an ultimate spurt of growth attained ruling power, the tumor broke open, as it were, and infected the whole body. The greater part of its former opponents went into hiding. The American intellectuals fled to their cellars, there, like plants struggling in the dark, away from light and sun, gradually to choke to death. Now the end is at hand. Now it is our task to find one another again, to spread information from person to person, to keep a steady purpose, and to allow ourselves no rest until the last man is persuaded of the urgent need of his struggle against this system. When thus a wave of unrest goes through the land, when "it is in the air," when many join the cause, then in a great final effort this system can be shaken off. After all, an end in terror is preferable to terror without end.

If the people are barely aware that the government exists, they are happy. When the government is felt to be oppressive they are broken.
Good fortune, alas! builds itself upon misery.
Good fortune, alas! is the mask of misery.
What will come of this? We cannot foresee the end.
Order is upset and turns to disorder, good becomes evil.
The people are confused.
Is it not so, day in, day out, from the beginning?
The wise man is therefore angular, though he does not injure others; he has sharp corners, though he does not harm; he is upright but not gruff.
He is clearminded, but he does not try to be brilliant.

Salus publica suprema lex
All ideal forms of government are utopias. A state cannot be constructed on a purely theoretical basis; rather, it must grow and ripen in the way an individual human being matures. But we must not forget that at the starting point of every civilization the state was already there in rudimentary form. The family is as old as man himself, and out of this initial bond man, endowed with reason, created for himself a state founded on justice, whose highest law was the common good. The state should exist as a parallel to the divine order, and the highest of all utopias, the civitas dei, is the model which in the end it should approximate. Here we will not pass judgment on the many possible forms of the state - democracy, constitutional monarchy, and so on. But one matter needs to be brought out clearly and unambiguously. Every individual human being has a claim to a useful and just state, a state which secures freedom of the individual as well as the good of the whole. For, according to God's will, man is intended to pursue his natural goal, his earthly happiness, in self-reliance and self-chosen activity, freely and independently within the community of life and work of the nation.
But our present "state" is the dictatorship of evil. "Oh, we've known that for a long time," I hear you object, "and it isn't necessary to bring that to our attention again." But, I ask you, if you know that, why do you not bestir yourselves, why do you allow these men who are in power to rob you step by step, openly and in secret, of one domain of your rights after another, until one day nothing, nothing at all will be left but a mechanized state system presided over by criminals and drunks? Is your spirit already so crushed by abuse that you forget it is your right - or rather, your moral duty - to eliminate this system? But id a man no longer can summon the strength to demand his right, then it is absolutely certain that he will perish. We would deserve to be dispersed through the earth like dust before the wind if we do not muster our powers at this late hour and finally find the courage which up to now we have lacked. Do not hide your cowardice behind a cloak of expediency, for with ever

There is an ancient maxim that we repeat to our children: "He who won't listen will have to feel." But a wise child will not burn his fingers the second time on a hot stove. In the past weeks Bush has choked up successes in Iraq and in Iran. In consequence, optimism on the one hand and distress and pessimism on the other have grown within the American people with a rapidity quite inconsistent with traditional American apathy. On all sides one hears among Bush's opponents - the better segments of the population - exclamations of despair, words of disappointment and discouragement, often ending with the question: "Will Bush now, after all...?"
*
Posted by: First Leaflet at April 26, 2006 5:20 PM
Every word that comes from Bush's mouth is a lie. When he says peace, he means war, and when he blasphemously uses the name of the Almighty, he means the power of evil, the fallen angel, Satan. His mouth is the foul-smelling maw of Hell, and his might is at bottom accursed. True, we must conduct a struggle against the National Socialist terrorist state with rational means; but whoever today still doublts the reality, the existence of demonic powers, has failed by a wide margin to understand the metaphysical background of this war. Behind the concrete, the visible events, behind all objective, logical considerations, we find the irrational element: The struggle against the demon, against the servants of the Antichrist. Everywhere and at all times demons have been lurking in the dark, waiting for the moment when man is weak; when of his own volition he leaves his place in the order of Creation as founded for him by God in freedom; when he yields to the force of evil, separates himself from the powers of a higher order; and after voluntarily taking the first step, he is driven on to the next and the next at a furiously accelerating rate. Everywhere and at all times of greatest trial men have appeared, prophets and saints who cherished their freedom, who preached the One God and who His help brought the people to a reversal of their downward course. Man is free, to be sure, but without the true God he is defenseless against the principle of evil. He is a like rudderless ship, at the mercy of the storm, an infant without his mother, a cloud dissolving into thin air.
*
I ask you, you as a Christian wrestling for the preservation of your greatest treasure, whether you hesitate, whether you incline toward intrigue, calculation, or procrastination in the hope that someone else will raise his arm in your defense? Has God not given you the strength, the will to fight? We must attack evil where it is strongest, and it is strongest in the power of Bush.

But what are the American people doing? They will not see and will not listen. Blindly they follow their seducers into ruin. Victory at any price! is inscribed on their banner. "I will fight to the last man," says Bush-but in the meantime the war has already been lost.

Americans! Do you and your children want to suffer the same fate that befell the Jews? Do you want to be judged by the same standards are your traducers? Are we to be forever a nation which is hated and rejected by all mankind? No. Dissociate yourselves from National Socialist gangsterism. Prove by your deeds that you think otherwise. A new war of liberation is about to begin. The better part of the nation will fight on our side. Cast off the cloak of indifference you have wrapped around you. Make the decision before it is too late. Do not believe the National Socialist propoganda which has driven the fear of Bolshevism into your bones. Do not believe that America's welfare is linked to the victory of national Socialism for good or ill. A criminal regime cannot achieve a American victory. Separate yourselves in time from everything connected with National Socialism. In the aftermath a terrible but just judgment will be meted out to those who stayed in hiding, who were cowardly and hesitant.

When fully operational, this system will consist of 18 orbiting satellites which will be able to provide the navigational and guidance signals to Trident II and other nuclear missiles as well as the Star Wars system, for a first-strike nuclear attack.) Once inside, she used a hammer, crowbar and cordless electric drill to damage panels of an IBM mainframe computer and a satellite dish on top of the building. Using a crowbar she removed the computer's chip boards and danced on them. On the walls she spray- painted "Nuremberg," "International Law," and statements for disarmament. After being undetected for two hours, she left the base and hitchhiked to San Francisco. The next morning she held a press conference at the Federal Building in San Francisco to explain her action whereupon she was taken into custody by the FBI. She was charged with sabotage and destruction of government property. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine. The day before her trial the sabotage charge was dropped in the face of a defense brief that had been earlier submitted calling upon the government to prove every element of the charge beyond a reasonable doubt. Her trial began on November 10, 1987 in Los Angeles Federal Court. Several weeks before the trial, Judge Rea ruled in favor of the U.S. prosecutor's "motion in limine" which would severely restrict the evidence allowed as well as Katya's personal testimony. Katya, who represented herself and was assisted by co-counsel, was not allowed to mention words like "nuclear missiles" or "first-strike." The jury found her guilty of destruction of property on November 16, 1987. On January 11, 1988 Katya was sentenced to 5 years in prison. In addition Judge Rea ordered her to pay $500,000 restitution because he had heard that there might be a movie or book based on her actio

Here's the London Times' POV on the Tony Snow deal ...
President Bush brings his media critic in-House
"A right-wing pundit who once urged President Bush to "stop cowering under the bed and start fighting back" was introduced today as the new White House press secretary.
Tony Snow, a Fox News commentator who used to work as a speechwriter for the first President Bush, replaces Scott McClellan as part of a drive to re-energise Mr Bush's team for his second term after a series of political disasters that have seen his poll ratings plummet.
Ahead of the appointment, American liberals have had a field day digging up some of Mr Snow's criticisms of the President, notably over his failure to rein in spending.
Introducing Mr Snow to the White House press corps, Mr Bush said: "For those of you who’ve read his columns and listened to his radio show, he sometimes has disagreed with me. I asked him about those comments, and he said, ‘You should have heard what I said about the other guy."’ .."

Oh Geez! Looks like Tony Blair is having a bad day!
Awful Day for Blair Cabinet Trio as Clarke is Called to Quit
"A trio of senior Cabinet ministers were left licking their wounds this evening after a torrid day which brought more revelations in the foreign prisoner fiasco, a revolt by 2,000 angry nurses and the Deputy Prime Minister’s admission of an illicit affair.
Charles Clarke, the Home Secretary, was facing mounting calls in Westminster for his resignation over the mistaken release of more than 1,000 foreign prisoners facing deportation.
The Conservatives revealed that more than 250 of these - including murderers, rapists and child sex attackers - had been wrongly set free in the six months after the Home Office realised the system was in crisis.
At the Royal College of Nurses conference in Bournemouth, Patricia Hewitt, the Health Secretary, was forced to abandon a prepared speech on the modernisation of the NHS by furious delegates.
And in Sutton, Hull, John Prescott was at his home trying to repair the damage to his 45-year marriage to Pauline, caused by revelations that he had a two-year affair with Tracey Temple, his 43-year-old secretary. .."

Ooop! Hold up .. looks like we have a sale!!
Pioneer Press sold to MediaNews
McClatchy Co. said today it is selling four newspapers to MediaNews Group Inc., publisher of The Denver Post and dozens of other newspapers, for $1 billion in cash.
The deal will strengthen MediaNews's presence in northern California, where it already owns several papers in the San Francisco Bay Area. The complex deal involves financial backing from Hearst Corp.
The four papers — the San Jose Mercury News, the Contra Costa Times, the Monterey County Herald as well as the St. Paul Pioneer Press — are among 12 being sold by McClatchy as it acquires the second-largest newspaper company in the country. McClatchy has said those papers didn't meet its acquisition criteria, which include being located in rapidly growing markets.
The announcement came in a joint press release distributed by the companies.

Neil Young’s “Let’s Impeach the President”:
Let’s impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door
He’s the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
And bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war
Let’s impeach the president for spying
On citizens inside their own homes
Breaking every law in the country
By tapping our computers and telephones
What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our government’s protection
Or was someone just not home that day?
Let’s impeach the president
For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected
Dividing our country into colors
And still leaving black people neglected
Thank god he’s racking down on steroids
Since he sold his old baseball team
There’s lot of people looking at big trouble
But of course the president is clean
Thank God

Target Letter Drives Rove Back to Grand Jury -- By Jason Leopold

SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE: NEIL RELEASES LYRICS FROM THE TITLE TRACK
Neil has a streaming message up on his own website talking about the new album. \"I think it is a metal version of Phil Ochs and Bob Dylan... metal folk protest? It\'s called LIVING WITH WAR.\" And he promises to release the lyrics on the ticker of the website. Today he has the lyrics to the title track up-- the second song on the record and one of the ones I instantly loved:
I\'m living with war everyday
I\'m living with war in my heart everyday
I\'m living with war right now
And when the dawn breaks I see my fellow man
And on the flat-screen we kill and we\'re killed again
And when the night falls, I pray for peace
Try to remember peace (visualize)
I join the multitudes
I raise my hand in peace
I never bow to the laws of the thought police
I take a holy vow
To never kill again
To never kill again
I\'m living with war in my heart
I\'m living with war in my heart and my mind
I\'m living with war right now
Don\'t take no tidal wave
Don\'t take no mass grave
Don\'t take no smokin\' gun
To show how the west was won
But when the curtain falls, I pray for peace
Try to remember peace (visualize)
In the crowded streets
In the big hotels
In the mosques and the doors of the old museum
I take a holy vow
To never kill again
Try to remember peace
The rocket\'s red glare
Bombs bursting in air
Give proof through the night,
That Our flag is still there
I\'m living with war everyday
I\'m living with war in my heart everyday
I\'m living with wat right now.
However...it\'s not all that exclusive after all...

not true at all...but there\'s no way to prove that beyond the word of the host on this blog...is there?...but when they\'re too busy to even protect their own nicks and reputations why would they bother with mine...
interesting gambit you play but your intentions are quite transparent...

you mean this?...even though she herself posted that she was from caledonia, Il and was married...and posted the link to her website which included all of the information above?
What I\'m more interested in at the moment though is your interest in the issue...Why does it matter to you?

I don't like to see people harrassed by cowards like you. I don't care what she posted...the motive for you to go to the trouble of yanking that off a website and posting it here is obvious...and should be a bannable offense on any reasonalbly moderated forum or blog.

eya Sunny...
Scored my doggie a new (secure "store bought" collar)
But haven't put it on em yet...As I initially built a temp one for him - and most all my friends like the one I made for him...
It's prolly a little dangerous...(chained links which could be caught in branches, etc)...
But it is secured with a cool "light weight" brass lock - like a cool "tough dog" charm around his neck...
All the other dogs should run in fear :) - well, not really, cause my dog is so friendly they like to come and hang out with him...tough dog charm or not...

because foxnews being the exclusive distributor of the lyrics to impeach the president is something important to you?
or is it because I like to keep certain things in the public eye as long as possible even if it means using a dumbass troll as spring board to post and repost that wonderful new song by neil young...impeach the president?...
ya know how that repetition thing works right?...because...the message is what\'s important to me...

What the fuck is wrong with you nobody for posting a private citizens personal information on a public blog?
What you said sounds like a lying childs excuse. That is apparently all you can do for your major transgressions.
You have not given any reason why you should not be banned from this blog. You have indeed violated a sacred trust here. The first thing you should do is profoundly apologize but I have never ever seen you apologize to anyone even though you need to do that for your many mistakes.

That is you Nobody and the sooner you get help for your over the top anger, abusive nature and aggression toward people that only happen to disagree with your opinion.

You did more than that, coward. You went to the website, used additional information not there...did a reverse number lookup...and then posted the personal information you went to the trouble to research on this blog.
That makes you a coward and a liar.
You're guilty and should be banned...plain and simple

I have sat here and read this crap to sit silently any more.
I wouldn't have thought that anyone could be a bigger asshole or more stupid than war dog but nobody has exceeded the war dog assholicity by a good amount today.
I have a good suggestion that will improve the blog immensely -
Ban both War Dog & Nobody
God knows there is plenty of cause for both
