It would be wrong to pull out now. But if we send just a few thousand more troops to stabilize the country we'll be able to leave in a few years. That's what all our top leadership says. Even Paul Hackett advocates for staying the course, just like Hillary, and he was against the war before he was for the war!
Posted by: Dollars for Dems at September 29, 2005 07:46 PM
Oh, well if your "top leadership" says so, it must be right.
Myself, I don't agree with this approach.
It's setting us up for faliure. At this point, you're either for the war or against it. This "trying to please everyone" angle is a lose-lose situation. The longer we stay, the worse it will be.
We are creating civil war in Iraq. That's all our military presence will produce.

Yes! That's a brilliant arguement! We have to keep killing people and keep getting killed because we have been killing and getting killed in the past!
Our soldiers have been killed fighting in Iraq so if we pull out of Iraq and stop getting our soldiers killed in Iraq that would dishonor those who have already been killed so we have to keep on getting killed to keep from tarnishing the honor and memory of those who have been killed.
You are fucking nuts!!!

Tom DeLay's indictment and resignation as House majority leader has sent tremors through the White House and the Republican establishment here, raising fears that the party's 11-year grip on the House could be ended by the congressional mid-term elections in November 2006.
Mr DeLay's departure deprives the party of arguably its most powerful figure on Capitol Hill, an unmatched political organiser and enforcer who has done more than anyone to drive President George Bush's agenda through a bitterly divided and partisan Congress. ...
Even Democratic opponents who detest him grudgingly admit there has been no more effective majority leader from either party in the past 20 years.
Known as the Hammer for his ruthless style, Mr DeLay helped to create the current Republican golden age in Washington. He was a close lieutenant of the former speaker Newt Gingrich, who led the party to victory in the 1994 mid-term elections, by seizing on public discontent with an entrenched, corrupt and complacent Democratic majority. The wheel may now be turning full circle. The host of scandals now threatens to tar the Republicans in exactly the same fashion.

As the mother of a son killed in battle in Iraq, she originally struck a sympathetic chord, whether you supported the war in Iraq or opposed it. One cannot help but empathize with the agony of a bereaved mother. But that has changed over the months, and I believe that many Americans who viewed her with sympathy no longer do so.
Many Americans, myself included, now see her as a person who has come to enjoy the celebratory status accorded to her by the radicals on the extreme left who see America as the outlaw of the world. These radicals are not content to be constructive critics. They are bent on destroying this country.
Posted by: Anonymous Coward at September 29, 2005 8:08 PM
Doesn't matter. She's going to be our candidate so you won't have anyone else to vote anyway. Just hold your nose and vote for her and after the election we'll hold her feet to the fire.
Posted by: Dollars for Dems at September 29, 2005 07:58 PM
Not this round. You can't support the war and expect to have the support of the grassroots at this juncture. That may have worked for the Kerry campaign last year, but the playing field has changed. Time moves on.

3 Charged in Killing Of Fla. Businessman
Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis was killed on a Fort Lauderdale street on Feb. 6, 2001. Two of the three men charged had been hired as consultants by Adam Kidan, one of Abramoff's partners in the SunCruz Casinos venture.
Jack Abramoff - The friend Tom DeLay can't shake.
Where to begin examining the extraordinary career of Jack Abramoff? His work trying to secure a visa for the great Zairian kleptocrat Mobutu Sese Seko, perhaps, or the bilking of an estimated $66 million out of Native American tribes, clients he described as "monkeys," "troglodytes," and "idiots"? Or his leadership of a 1980s think tank financed, unbeknownst to him apparently, by the intelligence arm of South Africa's apartheid regime?

Delay's post-indictment lying public statements seem so predictable as signs of an anti-social personality.
If I remember correctly, a psychopath will feign regretfulness and feign desire to correct his behavior in order to continue to manipulate the other emotionally, seeking to attain or preserve something akin to charisma. The sociopath, however, doesn't care about that kind of control-- because he can't really sort out/feel his own feelings let alone anybody else's. The sociopath can't figure out how to genuinely mirror the other person's emotions, possibly because noone at the important time in childhood mirrored his or maybe he was altogether unteachable in this area. The sociopath doesn't care if he's hurt anybody, doesn't care if he causes problems; doesn't "feel" etiquette, rules, laws pertain to him, so doesn't care if he breaks them; he considers himself entitled to commit criminal acts and feels no remorse about it whatsoever. And he can't even fake remorse. (If it is part of another scam, he'll try, but it usually goes thunk! because the performance is so flat -- like Bush at these disaster photo ops, just flat as a pancake! No feeling, just words and a failed attempt to show human empathy and connection to others. FLAT.THUNK.)
Delay is like so many anti-social criminals, incapable of remorse and incapable of being rehabilitated.
There's a huge photo of Delay on the front page of our morning paper. What a face. Delay has the self-satisfied face of entitlement and many long uninterrupted years of successful exploitation schemes.
JUSTICE !!! These guys are too dangerous to be running loose!

Pentagon Analyst to Plead Guilty to Leak
A Pentagon analyst charged with providing classified information to an Israeli official and members of a pro-Israeli lobbying group will plead guilty, according to the U.S. District Court clerk's office.
This is to prevent a trial and more public embarrassment, and mostly to bury the real scandal, which is not what information flowed from the Pentagon through AIPAC to Israel, but what disinformation flowed from Israel, through AIPAC, into the Pentagon, to lie the United States into a war on Iraq.

Attention Air America: Would you care to comment on today's guilty plea by Larry Franklin which establishes as a fact that Israel and AIPAC have spies inside the Pentagon, and in particular from the very office from which many of the lies that tricked this nation into war came from?
Would you care to comment on the entire US Congress accepting campaign donations from the now-admitted spy organization AIPAC, despite having known for two years AIPAC was suspected of being a spy outfit?

Robin Hood in Reverse
Senator Tom Harkin moments ago said on the Senator floor the House this week passed a bill cutting programs to the poor while they refuse to have the rich share in the burden of paying to reconstruct the Gulf region by taking back tax cuts for the rich.
He said tomorrow the Senate plans to vote for the cuts.
Over and over we see the real republican agenda and plans for America. Katrina exposed it.
Rob from the poor and give to the rich is what the are all about.

A good place to check that history against Clinton's populist claims is the thirteenth chapter, titled "The Clinton Presidency," of Howard Zinn's magnificent modern history counter-text The Twentieth Century (New York, NY: Harper Perennial, 2003). Another place to look is progressive economist Robert Pollin's excellent Contours of Descent: U.S. Economic Fracturing and the Landscape of Global Austerity (New York, NY: Verso, 2003).

But his bosses at CBS have forbidden him to go back at it, he said.

"They wouldn't let me do that story," he said during the shockingly frank interview with former NBC newsman Marvin Kalb.

He knows what is right and does not care who he hurts. He is more the psychopath, feigning emotion so that people will believe he is a real person.
The fact that these two are the Pres and V Pres of our Country does not speak well for the voters. It also does not speak well for the country itself. All other nations see them for what they are.

Air America Radio grounded by WHAT-AM
By Michael Klein
INQUIRER STAFF WRITER
Al Franken and Randi Rhodes are getting the boot from Philadelphia airwaves, as WHAT-AM (1340) is pulling off programming from Air America, the liberal talk-radio network.
Friday will be the last day, and a new WHAT lineup will begin Monday, said general manager Kernie Anderson, adding that "things were not working out" with Air America after about a year.
WHAT aired Air America's programming from noon to 7 p.m. weekdays, sandwiched between the rest of its lineup. The juxtaposition of liberal talk and WHAT's African America-targeted talk programming seemed an odd fit from the start.
Ratings were abysmal.
Air America, heard on about 70 stations nationwide, also is streamed on XM satellite radio and carried at www.airamericaradio.com.
An Air America spokesman said: "While we hate to lose affiliates, it is very common to add and drop affiliates due to local market conditions. While we hate to lose WHAT-AM, we are currently in negotiations with another station and hope to make that announcement soon."
WHAT, which bills itself as the voice of Philadelphia's African American community, will add a 1-to-5 p.m. call-in show from Philadelphia Daily News columnist Elmer Smith. Mary Mason will continue from 6 to 9 a.m. Her producer, Albert Butler, will get his own show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thera Martin-Connelly will host from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; Tavis Smiley's syndicated show will air from 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays. The syndicated Bev Smith will do 7 to 10 p.m. weekdays, followed by Reggie Bryant from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

I actually believe war is a result of total societal failure and anyone making money off of war toys is promoting failure. The "terrorist" who aren't associated with a particular nation according to Bush, then they don't have access to WMDs unless nations sell it to them. Everyone needs to stop make these weapons which waste a lot of fuel to launch and not to mention the polution in the aftermath.

I spoke too soon when I said earlier that there have been no blow jobs in Washington since the Honor and Integrity crowd took over.
I just watched Brit Hume "interview" Tom DeLay.
Update: Oh Jesus, Chris Matthews just performed a full-on deep-throat on the Hammer.
It's a rather unorthodox "interviewing" technique to make your interviewees argument for him by never shutting up and only allowing him to nod in agreement while you rake his enemies over the coals on his behalf. But then, they don't call 'em mediawhores and pre$$titutes for nothin'.
