Warner: Base Closures 'Rigged'
D.C. Area Jobs Long Targeted, Senator Asserts
Virginia Sen. John W. Warner (R) said that Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and a senior aide improperly manipulated the national base realignment plan announced earlier this year to compel the movement of more than 20,000 defense jobs away from the Washington area.
Two years before the Pentagon revealed its base closing plan May 13, in a stream of memos and internal records, top department officials were saying that "thinning of headquarters in the National Capital Region remains a(n) objective," according to Warner.

It’s been growing as I read accounts of mad dogs in pickup trucks mowing down crosses, shotgun blasts in neighboring fields and see the vicious comments by trolling freepers. When those in harsh denial about their wrongheaded leaders feel themselves pressed up against an indefensible wall, anything is possible.

ATTENTION : HOMELAND SECURITY
New York Times today says Pakistan scientist provided North Korea with centrifuge machines and designs used for nuclear weapons. He admitted to leaking nuclear secrets to Iran, Libya, and North Korea.
Washington Post today says traces of bomb-grade uranium found two years ago in Iran came from contaminated Pakistani equipment bought two years ago from Pakistan that the Bush administration used as evidence Iran was making bomb-grade materials.
Pakistan was the nexus of the C.I.A. connection supplying weapons to the freedom fighters during the Soviet Union-Afghanistan war and occupation. These freedom fighters grew into OUR REAL ENEMY- al Qaeda.
Pakistan supported the Afghanistan Taliban during their years of oppression. The Taliban protected al Qaeda and our number 1 enemy, Osama bin Laden. The al Qaeda network without any doubt travels through Pakistan to its many secret hiding places and operations.
Pakistan though a poor nation has nuclear weapons. Its been involved in a Cold War with India for years over the territory of Kashmir. Both sides are developing missiles and seeking warplanes and high-tech weaponry.
Pakistan was a greater threat to us and the world than Saddam`s Iraq. People better start paying attention.
Iraq was a BIG TIME DIVERSION in many ways masking the evil plans and deeds of the Bush Administration both here and abroad. We should fear yet darker things to come if the Bush Crime Family continue their evil ways in Iraq and elsewhere now that they have gotten us in another QUAGMIRE in Iraq like Vietnam.
Pakistan is a nexus of trouble and the Bush Gang are quiet when it comes to Pakistan. To me that means, WATCH OUT.

Did I not mention "retarded" and "wannabes"?
Here's an interesting technique...
negative statement
negative statement
negative statement
oh I was just joking
See how this works...these statements are buffered as unresolved and having a value of 1 per statement...Then when you get to the disclaimer portion you see the "freindly nick" and then the negative statements are processed not as a joke but as being positives and are recorded as such...
A single positive statement does not refute the previous statements it only lends credibility to the "friendly nick" which then lends credibility to the negative statements...
Not the simplest propaganda technique to understand or pull off but it's effective and dirty pool regardless...

Anti-Iraq War Parents to Take Protests Across Nation
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0824-08.htm
Parents of soldiers killed in Iraq plan to follow President George W. Bush around the country in the coming months, hoping to generate nationwide anti-war sentiment after camping out at his Texas ranch.
Through much of August, Cindy Sheehan, who lost her son in Iraq, has stationed herself with other protesters outside Bush's Crawford ranch, garnering international media coverage at a time when more than 1,800 U.S. military have died in the Iraq conflict.
Sue Niederer, who with Sheehan and other families of dead soldiers founded "Gold Star Families for Peace," on Wednesday vowed to pursue the president with her anti-war message.
"We are going to be continuously on Mr. Bush and make him understand we are not going away. We are very, very steadfast in what we doing," said the 56-year-old housewife, real estate agent and substitute teacher from Hopewell, New Jersey.
Niederer, whose 24-year-old son Seth Dvorin died in Iskandariya, Iraq, on February 3, 2004, said she and others plan to travel to wherever Bush will be speaking.
Anti-war groups kept the pressure on the president this week as he made speeches in Utah and Idaho, where he promised that U.S. troops would remain in Iraq to complete their job to honor those who already died there -- a logic Niederer disputed.
"You are dishonoring the soldiers, you are not honoring them," she said of Bush's speech.
"Given the reasons for why we went into this war, why have their deaths not been in vain?" she asked, referring to Bush's now disproved pre-war assertion in 2003 that Iraq might have stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction.
Sheehan, the Vacaville, California, mother whose son Casey was killed in combat in Iraq, has become the center of the anti-war effort by camping out near Bush's ranch and demanding to meet face-to-face with the president.
She plans to speak in Brunswick, Maine, in September and in Brooklyn, New York, in October.

"Greenwashing is what corporations do when they try to make themselves look more environmentally friendly than they really are."
“Greenwash” is defined in the 10th edition of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary as the “disinformation disseminated by an organization so as to present an environmentally responsible public image.” Its inclusion in the dictionary indicates the significance and permanence of a growing trend among corporations to take advantage of the many consumers who look for products with negative environmental impact.

Hugo Chavez wants to help American poor with heating oil
HAVANA, Cuba (Reuters) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, popular with the poor at home, offered on Tuesday to help needy Americans with cheap supplies of gasoline.
"We want to sell gasoline and heating fuel directly to poor communities in the United States," the populist leader told reporters at the end of a visit to Communist-run Cuba.
...snip...
Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA owns Citgo, which has 14,000 gas stations in the United States.
The offer may sound attractive to Americans feeling pinched by soaring prices at the pump but not to the U.S. government, which sees Chavez as a left-wing troublemaker in Latin America.
Gasoline is cheaper than mineral water in oil-producing Venezuela, where consumers can fill their tanks for less than $2. Average gas prices have risen to $2.61 a gallon in the United States, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Chavez said Venezuela could supply gasoline to Americans at half the price they now pay if intermediaries who "speculated ... and exploited consumers" were cut out.
Venezuela supplies Cuba with generously financed oil and plans to help Caribbean nations foot their oil bills.
Chavez, in Cuba to attend the graduation of Cuban-trained doctors from 28 countries, was seen off at the airport by Cuban President Fidel Castro. Washington has accused the two leaders of being a destabilizing influence in South America.
Chavez and Castro offered to give poor Americans free health care and train doctors free of charge.

here in lies a perfect example of why the right doesn't get the left..........
no outrage at the car bombs????....
our "utter to the end" right-wing supporter WARPIG, doesn't understand.....
....that it is OUTRAGE at the car bombs that is the root of why we keep track of them.......but here's what WARPIG doesn't get.....
we've taken such an interest that we have MOVED PAST having to find out what's going on, and are NOW FOCUSED on the root of the problem....
the car bombs will inevitably continue until we are willing to admit that what we are doing in iraq is in violation of international law....... and we need to step back from the line we've crossed........
realize....there are some very dangerous and powerful ideologues at work in our nation....realize that these insurgents are created by those ideologues....literally created by them........
(enter the FEAR... of life after oil...)
so, is it more or less patriotic, to hide ones country's mis-deeds, or to expose them in a genuine effort to realize that peace can only be attained thru the willingness for cooperation with all.......with the integrity of heart.....
....we MUST PRODUCE a transparent example of our national interest if we expect others to do the same....honesty can work......
the deadliest disease on earth is not AIDS or cancer...... but is HATE.......
and the only cure for hate is LOVE...... geniune heartlove....
and in order to do this the nation must be willing to face the critical issues of energy and momentum honestly......

The difference has been shown in studies...If you're aware of the "advertizing" technique being used you're more likely to think critically and not buy on impulse...

For more than two years, Venezuelan government officials have been hurling accusations at the Bush administration charging that it was involved in the aborted April 2002 coup which overthrew, albeit for only a short time, the country's democratically elected president, Hugo Chavez. Facing the possibility of being recalled, President Chavez recently said he had evidence proving that U.S. officials "met with rebel military officers [and] U.S. military officers acted in the coup." Chavez also pointed out that "the U.S. ambassador was at the Presidential Palace after the coup to applaud the dictator [Pedro Carmona]. The government of the United States must answer before the world about the deaths that occurred here in April of 2002. "
The State Department's Richard Boucher dismissed Chavez's charges, saying that the accusations were meant to "to divert attention" from the referendum process currently underway in Venezuela, Venezuelanalysis. com reported. Boucher, however, acknowledged that the Bush administration is providing "funding to groups that promote democracy and strengthen civil society in Venezuela and around the globe." Boucher claimed that the funds "are for the benefit of democracy, not to support any particular political faction. "
One of the recipients of U.S. taxpayer money is a Venezuelan company called Sumate, the organization that provided much of the logistical support for the signature collection process in the current recall campaign. Between September 2003 and September 2004, Sumate received more than $50,000 from the U. S. -based National Endowment for Democracy.

MOVE OVER, CINDY: BUSH SINGLES OUT OTHER MILITARY MOM
Wed Aug 24 2005 16:53:27 ET
NAMPA, Idaho -- President Bush today took direct aim at Cindy Sheehan, the anti-war protester who has set up camp near the Bushes Texas ranch and purports to speak for military moms who, like her, have lost a son in the Iraq war.
Speaking to hundreds of Idaho National Guardsmen, the president singled out military mom Tammy Pruett of Pocatello, Idaho, whose husband and five sons have all served in Iraq.
"Tammy has four sons serving in Iraq right now with the Idaho National Guard: Eric, Evan, Greg and Jeff. Last year her husband, Leon, and another son, Aaron, returned from Iraq, where they helped train Iraqi firefighters in Mosul.
"Tammy says this -- and I want you to hear this -- 'I know that if something happens to one of the boys, they would leave this world doing what they believe, what they think is right for our country.'
"And I guess you couldn't ask for a better way of life than giving it for something that you believe in. America lives in freedom because of families like the Pruetts."
The crowd, made up mostly of military family members, broke into cheers and chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!"

GENOCIDE IS NEWS! LEARN MORE ABOUT DARFUR, SUDAN.
Watch the ad about genocide in Sudan--since you will not be seeing it on television.
NBC, CBS and ABC are refusing to air the Be A Witness campaign TV ad that challenges the networks to do a better job of covering the Darfur genocide.
We need your help to pressure the stations, NBC-4, CBS-9 and ABC-7 in Washington, DC, to change course and air this ad.
We are asking them why they have refused to air our ad and to reconsider this decision.
Remind them that Genocide IS News, so perhaps they should do some more reporting on what is happening in Darfur.

Tony Blair to join Carlyle Group?
IS BLAIR OFF TO JOIN $30BN WORLD ELITE? HE'S EYEING UP £250K JOB WITH ARMS TRADE LINK FIRM -
Exclusive By Rupert Hamer
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article9913.htm
08/22/05 "Sunday Mirror" -- -- TONY Blair is expected to join one of the most exclusive groups of businessmen in the world after he leaves Downing Street.
The PM is being lined up for a highly lucrative position with the Carlyle Group - an American-based investment giant with strong links to the White House and the defence industry.
The firm has been nicknamed "The Ex-Presidents Club" because it has had a host of former world leaders on its books including George Bush Senior, his former secretary of state James Baker and former British PM John Major. There a also a large number of former US Army top brass.
Mr Blair has been keeping quiet about his plans after his departure from Number 10 - which could be as early as 2007 according to some Labour insiders.
But sources in the City have revealed that he is "seriously considering" a high-profile role with Carlyle - which manages $30billion (£20million) of investments worldwide.
The job could net Mr Blair up to £500,000 a year for only a few days work a month giving speeches and making "networking" trips on behalf of the company.
The move comes after it emerged that the premier's financial affairs are in an increasingly perilous state His dream home has crashed in value by £700,000 in just seven months and he and Cherie have to find £13,000 a month for the mortgage.
The £3million loan the couple took out to buy the house in London's Connaught Square is 17 times Mr Blair's current salary.
Last night one leading City source said: "Private equity firms don't come any more powerful than Carlyle. It would be a huge coup for them if they could bring Tony Blair on board.
"But the job is likely to infuriate MPs and campaigners opposed to Britain's role in the Iraq War because of Carlyle's strong links to the defence industry."

Bush's War Stance Criticized on Sports Page
NEW YORK George W. Bush may be the fittest American president in awhile, and he once co-owned a major league baseball team, but as public unease about his country's Iraq adventure grows, is he even losing the sports pages?
Ian O'Connor, in his USA Today column today, blisters the president for his bicycle riding escapades, and other alleged missteps, while Americans are dying in Iraq in greater numbers. He recalls a better Bush moment at the 2001 World Series, after 9/11, contrasting it with the past weeks.

The other night a guy named Michael called in Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, Evidently he worked at WTC north tower on the 95th floor. He was saying that he hated working at the WTC because he felt impending doom for several years. He also went on to say “Why don’t they paint targets on us.” Well, anyhow he went on to say the day before the attack (Sept. 10), the two towers were being circled by unmarked black helicopters. George asked if he thought that was strange and Mike said yes, definitely, he never saw them before.
The day of the attack, Michael was dragging his feet with other things and he didn’t make it to work on time. The attack occurred before he got there. He called his best friend on the 95th floor and talked for an hour before he died. Evidently some of his coworkers who survived the crash were trapped in the northwest corner. They were aware of an terrific explosion but not even aware a plane had hit the building initially.
So what’s the deal with the black helicopters circling the WTC towers. I wasn’t aware of any Arabs getting training on a helicopters. Hell, they couldn’t even fly a Cesna properly, much less a tricky helicopter.
Who were those black helicopter guys, the CIA?

Yes, Perkins said that Chavez is on the hit list as is the new leader of Ecuador. It is a good book, but Perkins has a problem with his "lack of" or real, morals. It runs throughout the book and is very disconcerting. His facts, though are "right on".
The US has been a fascist directed state for a long time. How do we turn this around? Not with the DLC, that's for sure, they buy the whole enchilada.
